ALS Walk September 25

The acupuncturist friend I mentioned in my recent post is asking for the community’s support for an important cause. On September 25, she’s participating in the ALS Walk for the ALS Association of Oregon and SW Washington. Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) is a neurodegenerative disease that usually attacks both upper and lower motor neurons and causes degeneration throughout the brain and spinal cord. Here’s the link (below) to her donation page. Any amount will help her reach her fundraising goal:

  1. Mark, you have my sincere thanks for posting this announcement on your blog. My sister is a neurologist and started me out with a generous donation knowing that diseases like ALS face enormous challenges in the competitive world of fundraising. My choosing to walk for ALS really touched her as a practitioner and she noted in her message to me that along with brain tumour and muscular dystrophy, ALS is a disease that rarely generates the level of publicity as other major illnesses. It unfortunately goes unremarked expect by those whose families suffer the heartbreak of having a loved one stricken with this illness. I’m grateful to have this opportunity to walk and raise money for the ALS Association, especially for those who can’t.
